He is risen!
Again, we join with Christians around the world and proclaim the historical truth that is the bedrock of our faith. The entire Baylor community pauses to celebrate the reason of our hope. To all Bears around the country, and around the globe:

Happy Easter, as you proclaim Christ through your skills and lives.

He is risen, indeed!

Forever a Bear! Coach Kim and Baylor Make Long Term Contract
Baylor women’s basketball head coach Kim Mulkey and Baylor University reaffirmed their love for, and commitment to each other with the execution of a 10 year contract yesterday. Coach Kim, with one National Championship already hanging from the rafters at the Ferrell Center, will now be an institutionalized force with the Lady Bears. Coach Kim told Friends of Baylor, “I am quite humbled and honored by Baylor’s show of appreciation, support and confidence in me and the Lady Bears program.” It is a great day for Baylor athletics and a big “Sic’em” is due Athletic Director Ian McCaw as well as President John Lilley for their leadership in keeping our beloved Coach Kim. Read today's story in the Waco Trib to get the full scoop.

Bob Perry and Texas Monthly
Texas Monthly has a reputation for writing fairly tough essays on high profile Texans, particularly those with more conservative credentials. However, a much anticipated major story on Friends of Baylor Co-Chairman Bob Perry in this month’s edition of Texas Monthly has somewhat surprisingly resulted in a quite positive review. Bob’s credentials as the largest political donor in the nation have tended to overwhelm what Texas Monthly astutely observes to be incredible generosity for the disenfranchised. Bob is the primary donor for several orphanages in Central and South America, and a jobs program for injured military veterans. He provided $1 million for scholarships for Mexican American studies at the University of Houston, as well as $1 million for a YMCA in League City. In the true spirit of giving, Bob is identified in the article as being someone who gives quietly, boldly and without the expectation of personal public attention or rewards. Bob, his record and his heart are to be admired. Friends of Baylor is proud to be associated with such a fine man and loyal Baylor Bear! Take a look at the March 28 story in The Campaign Legal Center article to learn more.

Dr. Ken Hall, Dr. Paul Powell and Dr. Tony Evans
Three great men and three great upcoming Baylor events. Friends of Baylor Steering Committee member Dr. Ken Hall will address the Baylor University Women’s Council of Dallas on Thursday, April 26th at the Dallas Country Club. Dr. Hall, President and CEO of Buckner International is helping to raise money for the Anita and Dale Jones Endowed Scholarship Fund. For more information, contact Dorothy Smith at (972) 238-5722.

Dr. Paul Powell will be honored for his outstanding service as Dean of Truett Theological Seminary on Tuesday, April 10th. Dr. Powell has been a force behind the fabulous growth of the Truett Seminary and is considered one of the greatest preachers that Baylor has ever produced.

Outstanding Pastor and speaker Dr. Tony Evans will lead the 4th Annual Baylor Day of Prayer (Dallas) on Monday, May 14th. In addition to his preaching skills, Dr. Evans is the father of former Baylor football player, Jonathan Evans. For more information go to www.baylordayofprayer.com.

Baylor Softball on Fire!
The No. 11 Baylor Softball team won a HUGE game Wednesday night against No. 4 Texas A&M AT College Station. The Lady Bears won an extra-inning thriller by a score of 3-1, giving Baylor 9 wins in a row and a 5-0 record in Big XII play. This team has loads of talent and leadership, and is a legitimate contender for the College World Series. The Lady Bears head to Lubbock today for a two game series with Texas Tech. Sic’em Coach Moore and Lady Bears.
